Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard

Two weeks ago we took Sara and Silas to the apple orchard. This is the second year we have gone to this orchard and it is a good time for us as a family. I always loved going to pick apples with my family when I was younger and wanted to start the tradition with my own family. It is a nice break for Matt in the midst of his busy season of coaching, and the kids love it. This year it was freezing! We bundled the kids up in winter coats, hats, mittens and several layers. They did well despite the cold weather. We had a good time together as a family. I am in the midst of posting more pictures but blogger isn't letting me add anymore, so here is what I have for now!

Pickin' Apples

Big Helper!

Silas was so excited to help put the apples in the bag-- he was concentrating so hard not to drop them with his slippery mittens on.

Feeble Attempts to get a Good Picture of the Kids!

Last year we got GREAT pictures of Sara and Silas at the orchard. This year they were so cold and so bundled up it was hard to get a good shot. Oh Well!

Sara was so eager to help us pick, but after about 20 apples she was ready to be done! She came to me and told me her fingers hurt and she wanted her mittens back on. After that she kept saying, "Mom, we have enough, can we be done now?"

I wanna go home!!

Poor Silas--he was so cold!

Sara's flu shot treat. . .

Dora popsicles. She was very brave!

Popsicles are yummy all year long!

Ready for Church. . .

Baggy tights and all! This is my petite little girl wearing her 2T dress at 31/2. (also, i think these tights are 18-24 months--but those things never fit kids right anyway)

He's changing

I just looked at this picture and thought-"that does not look like Silas." He is changing so fast, it's hard to believe he will be two in a week and a half!

Bath Time Ritual

Sara and Silas love to be wrapped up in their towels after their bath. Immediately after I wrap them up, they scurry to their room and lay on the floor side-by-side. I love it!

The only way Matt and I ever get a picture with both of us in it and NO kids.

Just a few more pictures of our trip to NBBC. I am so far behind with blogging.

Slip-Face

For those of you who don't know this already, Silas sucks on a piece of silk to fall asleep. He would NOT take a pacifier when he was a baby-I stumbled across the "silky" idea when he got my slip after church one Sunday. He laid on my bed perfectly content with my slip ( a little strange I know, but you moms out there understand the NEED for your child to take a good nap). Anyway, we went to Joanne Fabric and bought a yard of silk that we cut into several squares for naps and bedtime. He sleeps great!

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Sara found a fun place to squeeze herself in our room at NBBC. This little hideout kept them busy for quite a while.

Are we having fun yet?

Silas is still a little uncertain about "big kid" swings.

Not a care in the world

Both of my children LOVE being outside. Sara would probably stay out all day if I let her. She did great on the trip to NBBC and loved having all the wide open space to play. We went to the swings every day we were there and sometimes more than once a day. When the swings and the slide weren't so new and exciting anymore, Sara and Silas would play in the rocks. I love that kids are so entertained by the simple things.

Trapped!
