Happy 1st Birthday to my little man

April 2, 2008, Ezekiel Simeon Tolosa was welcomed into our world. We had no idea then, all that was ahead of us. I know now, looking back at this year, that this little boy was an extra special gift from God to our whole family. Everyone he meets he greets with a smile that lights up the room. He engages people like no other baby I have ever met. . .he is constantly taking life in through his eyes, never wanting to miss a thing. It's hard to believe a year has gone by already. How quickly life passes.

Ezekiel, you are a rare and precious gift and we love you very much! We are excited to see all that God has planned for your life!

Passing the time

We waited quite a while for the doctors to sign off on their procedures before Ezekiel's surgery. Ezekiel was starting to get antsy so they brought us some toys to keep him occupied. This one was a big hit!

Sugery Prep

I still can't figure out why my pictures are posting out of order. Any of you readers out there have any hints? These pictures are of Ezekiel before his second surgery to insert PE tubes in his ears. We were having a lot of problems with drainage and clogging from the first set and they did not want these problems to be present when they did his cochlear implant at the end of this month. This time, they drained the fluid and reinserted new tubes--so far, so good. They will re-check his ears mid-May before the implant surgery to make sure there is no fluid present. Now, if we could just get Ezekiel to keep his hearing aids in!!

Matt stayed home with Ezekiel one Sunday night b/c Ezekiel had a cold and couldn't go into the nursery. Matt's goal was to multi-task and try to work on some reading for seminary, however, little mister wouldn't cooperate. Matt took these pictures of Ezekiel before their short little outing to the dumpster.

Sparks-O-Rama

This was Sara's first year in Sparks and she was able to be a part of the Awana Olympics, Sparks-O-Rama. Her team won 1st place!

Havin' a heat-wave!

March 16th, we finally started to see some sun and feel some warmth around here. Of course, I should mention it snowed again after this warm front. We did take advantage of the nice weather though--Matt grilled and the kids had some time outside! We are all ready for the warmer temperatures!

I had to get a picture of Ezekiel sleeping on his belly--unwrapped!! Well, almost. .he STILL at a year of age, wants to be swaddled to sleep, but last month started falling asleep and STAYING asleep on his side and tummy--we thought this day would never come!
