Heritage Days

Sara's school has "Heritage Days" right before the Thanksgiving holidays. The kids can dress up as a number of different things that are a part of our history. Our family is reading through the Little House series right now, so Sara dressed up as Laura Ingalls. I was really wishing I had a bonnet for her to wear. . .

Sara's homemade turkey

I am always trying to come up with new and easy "special activities" for Sara and I to do before her naps on the days she is home from school. I remembered making these paper plate turkeys in elementary school so Sara and I tried one together at home. It was super easy and a nice change for Sara from the normal coloring page.

Emma Krumbee's Orchard

The days we have together as a family are few and far between lately, and I cherish every one of them. Matt had no classes a few weeks back for a couple of "research and writing days" at the seminary. He told me to plan a family morning for Thursday and then he would spend Friday morning reading, researching, and studying. We had to be home by 1:00 so he could make it to work by 1:30, so we planned to head out early to squeeze in as much as possible. I found this orchard on-line, and we made the trek down there--it was a long trip for just a morning, but it was well worth it!! We had such a fun day together--the kid's loved it and I was so thankful Matt was willing to give up some much needed studying time and take a day just for our family.
