No such luck

This is Ezekiel's first Christmas so I was attempting to get a picture of him sitting in front of the Christmas tree. He is usually an extremely smiley kid, but was not cooperating on this particular day, and as you can see from the first picture, was making an attempt to escape.

Are we done yet?

Holidazzle Parade

Every year during the holidays, Target sponsors a parade downtown called the Holidazzle. The parade is at night, and it's all story book characters on floats done in Christmas lights. This year we went early enough to not be sitting outside in the sub-zero temperatures. We actually stayed pretty warm and had good seats up close. It was a fun night together as a family.

Heritage Day

This is Sara's friend Jonas Stamper, they have been buddies since they were just a few months old--it's fun that they get to be in the same class together now!

Our little gymnast

This was Sara's first time participating in any kind of community sport or activity, and I think the experience was good for her. This was my mom's Christmas and birthday gift to Sara and I am glad she had the chance to do it. Thanks Mom! Sara really improved each week and at the end was promoted to the next class. I think she was most excited to finally be able to do a cartwheel on her own. She practiced in between classes each week anywhere she could find space in our apartment. ~Great Job Peanut!

A boy, a banana and his Bible

I have been trying to get into the habit of reading out of Proverbs first thing in the morning before I start my day (which I have been very unfaithful about) and Silas asked me what I was doing. When I told him I was going to read my Bible while I ate my breakfast, he told me he wanted to read his Bible as well. So here he sits with his Bible and a banana "reading". He was so cute mumbling words to songs like he was really reading.

Smiley

A Work in Progress

We live in a two bedroom apartment, so eventually, if Ezekiel will ever start sleeping through the night, all three of our kids will be in one room. So I asked my good friend Beth Stamper to come over and help get the kids room "updated". I wanted help rearranging pictures putting up some shelves I got at a garage sale, etc. I'm not good with envisioning things so I enlisted her help. Well, she had bigger plans, and went above and beyond simply hanging a few decorations. She "built" me another room. She had plans for a room divider to give Ezekiel a space of his own, so off to Home Depot she went. She came back with a board, some L-brackets, and other small necessities for this project, and left me to paint the board so it would be ready for her next visit. The room is almost finished now, but I have yet to get pictures that are ready to post, so you will have to "stay-tuned" for more updates. I'm excited about the prospect of having a "third bedroom" for the low, low price of about $30.00! Thanks Beth!

Turkey Cookies

I found a recipe for these super cute Turkey cookies on the Betty Crocker website and thought I would give them a try-they seemed simple enough, no rolling and no cutting out perfect circles. I decided I would make them for Silas's birthday treats for Children's choir. I was more than relieved when they were finished. I decorated 20 of them which was about 18 more than I would have cared to decorate. I just didn't expect them to take so much time, and I was noticing EVERY mistake I made, realizing they didn't look quite as perfect as the picture on the website. I was quickly reminded by my husband that I was making cookies for 4 and 5 year olds and they weren't really going to care anyway--and he was right! The cookies were a big hit:)
