Fun with Markers!

Matt is the athletic director at the Christian school that he teaches at, so even when he's not coaching, he still has responsibilities at school. I try to find "fun" things for the kids to do with me on the nights that he is unable to come home until late. Sara LOVES coloring with markers, but since Silas is still learning to keep them OFF himself and ON the paper, they are, according to Sara, a special activity. I have some video clips that I will post later.

We have a similar time with our oldest 3 - playdough time! I've given up on the marker thing - as you'll see the next time you come over - JJ's newly painted walls have some wonderful new artwork thanks to James! Anyway - our quiet project time is playdough - they are all old enough to clean it up themselves!!! YAY!!!

Chloe's still not the cleanest with markers either but I am SO THANKFUL for the washability of them! Those Crayola scientists are geniuses!

Play-doh might work well for both your kiddos. Or have you tried those painting with water books? Those are easy and not messy.

What other things do you all do on those late nights? (Can you tell I'm ansy for some ideas to steal?)

Alicia, Yes, we have done the play-doh, both of them enjoy it. .. the problem is our dining area is carpeted and play-doh and carpet can be a bad mix. .. we have NOT done the paint with water books but have done water colors as you have probably seen in previous posts. I also try to do bath night while matt is gone, and I they both love going to the library. Our library here has a family story time on Monday nights at 7:00 and that is great!! (If you have two vehicles) OR go to Barnes and Noble. Silas plays with the Thomas train set, and Sara loves to look at all the new princess books-Plus it gives you a chance to relax--grab yourself a book before you head back to the kids section:)
